Irrigation Installation is Underway

Construction of Good Hope Farm’s drip irrigation system is nearing completion. At the beginning of our farm planning, the project partners realized that supplying water to the farm would be one of the most important and expensive infrastructure improvements to the property. Our initial plan was to use an existing well, but we soon discovered that it had caved in. After exploring almost a dozen other potential water options, the project partners agreed that connecting to the Town of Cary’s water system was the best solution.

Installation of irrigation on the property is being completed in two phases. Earlier this year, the Town of Cary installed the water meter and irrigation mainline. Beginning in April, Good Hope Farm staff and  growers began installing the submain and valves. We expect construction to be complete later this month. Below are a few photos from the construction process.
